Amy, we will always love you.

Kelly introduced me to Amy Winehouse in 2007. I fell in love with Back to Black and still play it all the time. It was one of my favorite albums of the 2000's. Homegirl lived hard and made beautiful music. I once read in Rolling Stone that what she wanted most was to start a family and cook dinners and be Blake's shy, beautiful wife. So sad that will not happen now.

Addiction is a disease that we need to decriminalize as a society and government and treat compassionately because the people who suffer are just that: people. Drugs aren't something to romanticize. Neither is the "27 Club." How many nights do I listen to Nirvana and almost cry at the thought that Kurt Cobain could still be making music? How different would the music world be if we still had these 27 clubbers alive? Now, with Amy, we'll never know. But I think she would have put out a damn good 3rd album.

Don't do drugs, people. Life's miserable but it's also beautiful. RIP Amy. I hope you are at peace now. Putting on your songs now...
